MTS Extension Project

building extension project

The words of Nehemiah have come to us: "Let us rise up and build" (Nehemiah 2:18), united with one heart and purpose for the present and future development of MTS, to train ministers, missionaries, music directors, and leaders in Borneo Island and beyond.

MTS has gone through several phases of redevelopment after the initial campus construction in 1959.

First Phase

First Phase

MTS Administrative Building
(Completed in 1998)

Second Phase

Second Phase

Female Hostel
(Susanna Hall, completed in 2003)

Third Phase

Third Phase

Four-storey Male & Married Students and Lecturers' Apartment
(Charles Hall, completed in 2011)

After 20 years of using the MTS Administrative Building Building, due to the limitation of space, we were forced to utilize the only conference room and chapel for classes, seminars, and Short-term Missions School. We foresee more space needed for our future development of using Bahasa Malaysia as a medium of instruction.

Despite the plan to extend the Administrative Building well before the pandemic, MTS has delayed this extension project, partly due to the many partner Annual Conferences major projects which were going on in the last few years, and the challenges of the pandemic and financial constraints. In view of the needs and rising building cost, after much prayerful meetings and planning, the Board of Management has decided to embark with faith this project with no further delay.

FOURTH PHASE

The extension building project is estimated to cost 15 million Ringgit Malaysia. The plan involves demolishing old structures and constructing a new building adjacent to the existing MTS Administrative Building. This extension block will facilitate the expansion of the library and provide additional facilities such as conference rooms, a multipurpose hall, counselling and spiritual direction rooms, while allowing the old library to make way for more classrooms. The construction will also include a recreation hall with a ground-floor parking area, workers' quarters, a tool room, and a recycling space. MTS also plan to create specific areas for prayer and leisure. This project is estimated to take 4 years (2024-2027). By God's grace, we hope to raise the fund needed within 2-year period.
