Methodist Theological School (hereafter MTS) is established as a theological training center of the Methodist Churches in Sarawak, Sabah and beyond, with the purpose of serving the church through the following:
Training of ministers
Training of missionaries
Training of Church musicians
Promotion of Refresher Courses for in-service ministers.
Promotion of lay training through Theological Education by Extension (TEE), Short-Term Missions School (STMS), and others.
The goal of this theological school is to provide a sound and practical theological training suited to the needs of both ordained and lay ministries in the Methodist and other churches in Sarawak, Sabah and beyond. Thus, we emphasize the following:
A devotion and commitment to parish ministry.
A balance between basic theological knowledge (especially Wesleyan Theology) and practical experience.
An orientation toward the local situation and its needs.
Growth through personal guidance and fellowship.
Creating missions-mindedness and awareness among teachers and students.
